Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association Overview

The Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association (IHLA) was founded in 1910 and currently comprises more than 450 hotels
throughout Chicagoland and the state. IHLA is among the top five fastest growing state lodging associations in the
United States, which reflects the dynamic Illinois tourism industry. Illinois is the sixth most visited state in
the U.S., and Chicago is the ninth most visited city.
Member Services Include:
- Providing a strong voice on issues concerning the welfare and profitability of the industry which includes testifying at legislative and Congressional hearings; ensuring that government regulations are reasonable and members understand and comply with them.
- Promoting industry member hotels to the public and private sectors.
- Helping members improve their profitability.
- Sponsoring a host of programs and events that help member hotels attract, retain, recognize and train employees including educational seminars, certification programs and Internet courses that help employees advance in their careers.
- Among the most recognized programs sponsored by IHLA and its educational foundation (www.IHLAEF.org), are Stars of the Industry, the Hospitality Games and the Knowledge Games.
